Our History

resqme, Inc. was founded by Laurent Colasse on one simple principle: in an emergency, every second counts, you must be prepared and safety must always be within reach.

We began our journey as NOV8 distributions back in 1998 distributing the original safety hammer and car escape tool. While effective, it revealed a critical flaw, most people stored it out of reach, making it useless when it mattered most...

The more time in the industry the more insight we had to vehicular accidents which led us to a clear idea: a safety tool should always stay with you.

This urgency became even more real after a tragic incident in which individuals were unable to escape their vehicle during a sudden flood, underscoring how quickly seconds can turn into loss.

From this, resqme® was created, a compact, keychain safety tool designed for instant access in critical moments. It was developed with the expertise of Bob Steingass, a fire and first responder safety specialist, ensuring that real-world emergency experience shaped its design.

Today, resqme is more than a product. It represents a mindset of preparedness, awareness, and the ability to act when it matters most.

We are proud to be in business over 25 years, have saved thousands of lives, and sold millions of tools, equipping people for the unknown. In 2017, resqme expanded with the creation of resqme Europe, headquartered in Nantes, France to improve its distribution system, efficiency and increase safety awareness worldwide. Following that the company acquired Whistles For Life® from Bob Cameron, a search and rescuer with over 55 years of experience, in 2023.
