The founder of Whistles for Life, Bob Cameron, has 55 years of experience as a search and rescue specialist and served several years in the United States Air Force.     The whistle can be very loud but I think you should include some instructions on or in the package. I found the volume and output frequency is variable depending on the position that you hold the whistle in (whistle body held horizontally or pointing up or down), the intensity with which a person blows air into it, and especially how tightly a persons mouth covers the mouthpiece (how airtight it is around the mouthpiece).
