The Worldwide Day of Awareness begins in early June and every country in the world shows how important this day is.
Too many people die or are injured each year in accidents on railroad crossings. several objective observations show that this is rarely a railway problem, but more often a problem of behavior of other road users, pedestrians, motorcyclists, drivers etc …
Compliant signaling to traffic and basic common sense would significantly reduce the number of accidents.
With the success of the Road Safety Day at crossings organized in France for the first time in June 2008 at the initiative of RFF ( Réseau Ferré de France ), 28 European countries met in 2009 and more than 40 in 2010 to create a day of prevention aimed primarily at crossings.
Lifesaver ‘s mission in the U.S. is to promote safety and prevent collisions, deaths and injuries at railroad crossings and on railway property. A national network of volunteers provides free presentations on rail safety.
