The resqme® is a 2-in-1 emergency escape tool that can break tempered glass car windows and slice through jammed seat belts. If you don’t have one handy, you can fix that and buy one now to join our safety family! So here are some resqme® tips & tricks to keep in mind:
-
Resqme® anatomy
The resqme® has 2 ends – the black cylindrical head and the metal ball point at the end. The spring-loaded spike emerges from the black head, so make sure to press that against the glass! The metal ball serves as a reloading mechanism to ensure you can use the resqme® several times.
The seatbelt stainless steel cutting blade is also very easy to reveal – simply place your finger in the attached key-ring and pull straight out. -
Crack the corners
The resqme® is able to shatter tempered glass from any spot, but the weakest point on your car windows are the bottom corners. So, aim for those parts of your window, and you’ll be free in no time!

Cut diagonally
The resqme® will cut through seatbelts at any angle, but you will get the quickest results when cutting at a 45° angle. Also be sure to keep the seatbelt taught when slicing through it!

Cut seatbelts twice
If you’re stuck in a jammed seatbelt, you should cut the seatbelt in 2 locations to escape more easily. First, cut your body strap, then the one around your waist. Once you have cut through both, you will be able to move around freely and get to safety.

Practice makes perfect
During an emergency, you’ll be flustered so it will help to get all the steps down before ahead of time. You probably don’t want to test the tool on your vehicle, so we have some recommendations instead. Press the head of the resqme® against a notepad or small piece of glass contained in a baggie. You’ll get a feel for the pressure required and see a small indent from the spike on the paper.
As for the blade, practice diagonal cuts on paper, or if you’re really dedicated, order spare seatbelt rolls for training.
Just make sure not to test out the tool & press it on your fingers to avoid being poked! -
Where to store
The most important thing to make sure is that the resqme® is easily accessible in various locations inside the car. We recommend using the sun-visor clip (sold separately) to easily attach it to your sun visor that can be reached, even after a rollover.
You can also use the included zip-ties to attach it to your headrest for easy access from the front & back seats, the gear-shifter, or your rear-view mirror. Finally, you can use the key-ring to attach it to your keychain and carry it everywhere you go! But make sure not to lose it in a purse or backpack to maintain easy access.
To ensure everyone’s safety, it’s best to have several stored in the car while also carrying one on your keychain to help save others who may be trapped.
Now with all these tips in mind, you should be ready to use the resqme® to escape any type of vehicular emergency. Remember to drive safely, and always be prepared with the resqme® on hand!
