Today’s story highlights the resqme’s earth (or table) shattering debut! As we continue sharing some atypical stories of the resqme® and our exciting beginning, we would like to take a moment to thank you all for sharing your stories and reviews with us throughout the years!
The Story Begins:
In 2003, when I finally got hold of the resqme®, I wanted to introduce the lifesaving tool to the promotional industry. I was hoping to aid companies in supporting their employees and clients through safety and education.
We had the honor of landing a presentation at Jack Nadel International headquarters, a top promotional merchandising US distributor. Joining me for the presentation, a member of my staff, Enrick and I entered the conference room. We immediately noticed the beautiful long glass table in the center of the room. 25 employees, including the VP, sat around the conference table awaiting the information they would learn from our presentation. Soon we began passing out samples to each of the employees, thanking them for the opportunity to introduce & demonstrate the resqme®. We started the presentation, introducing our American-made tool and highlighting the functionality of our tool through video demonstrations.
As I explained how the resqme® breaks car glass, by pressing the cylindrical head of the tool to the corner of a tempered glass side window, the VP started playing with the resqme® and tested it out for himself on the glass conference table. Within seconds, we heard the sound of shattering glass as the table-top glass crumbled into thousands of tiny pieces.
Immediately, silence took over the room and everyone was staring at us. Enrick and I were speechless and could not believe what had just occurred. We felt terrible for the team, so we tried to remain calm, but we knew our meeting had come to an end as we looked at the broken glass all over the floor. Breaking the silence, the VP joked “Well there’s a $12,000 table gone, we’d better start selling some resqme’s to reimburse it!”.
We left the meeting, disappointed in the outcome, but at least we knew that our tool worked! It’s hard to believe that such a compact tool can have such a powerful impact, but the proof was there. Fortunately, the resqme® is reliable, but we now always recommend testing tool on items you won’t regret breaking. And just to be safe, we suggest testing the spring-loaded spike on a notepad: you will see a mark from the spike, ensuring it works!
Again, this story highlights an atypical use of the resqme®, but we will always cherish this memory as an obstacle we overcame! And as we continue this series, we invite you to comment any interesting stories you have with the resqme®. Thank you for all your support and attention, and remember to stay safe!®
