It is always a great reward for us when someone shares their story about how resqme helped save a life. We at resqme, Inc. are committed to increase safety for all drivers and passengers, and knowing that our products contributed to help a person in distress is making us proud.
This week, we received the testimonial of Jack, who experienced a life-threatening situation when his car got submerged and he found himself trapped in it, upside down and head under the water.
At 2am on a Saturday night, Jack was on his way back home from a friend’s house when a deer jumped in front of his car. To avoid hitting the deer, Jack had to quickly swing his car away which caused his vehicle to flip and roll into the water of a nearby pond. In the dark, and with his head under the water, Jack was in state of shock and panicked. He was able to quickly remove his seat belt and tried to break the side window with his elbow, but his attempts were unsuccessful. That is when he was able to spot his orange resqme keychain dangling from his keys. “I bought this tool a year and a half prior.” he said. He quickly pulled the resqme off his keychain and pressed the tool against the window which instantly shattered, enabling him to quickly escape the car and get to safety.
Jack sent us the following message: “Thank God for this. I may have not been alive to write this. I can’t express my gratitude. Thank you.”
When a vehicle gets submerged it only takes few minutes before the car sinks, so it is important to remain calm and act fast.
Here are the 3 lifesaving steps as described by Dr. Gordon Giesbrecht, in case your car is sinking:
1 – SEAT BELTS – off or cut them
2 – WINDOWS – down or break them
3 – OUT – if Kids, from the oldest to the youngest
Thankfully, Jack had the right reaction and the right tool available within reach and was able to save his own life. Jack sustained no injuries from the car crash even if he remains a little shaken by the event. We wish him a quick recovery and hope he will be able to get back to his routine shortly.
